So, as I write this post I want to tell you two things.
1) Im probably one of the most stressed out people to walk this planet.
2) 99% of it is self -inflicted.
That’s right, I said it 9 times out of 10 we put more stress on our selves than there is really needed. Sometimes we simply have to just say “no” or cross bridges when we get there, to make our own lives easier, for our own sanity. Some time its seems as if the stress is never ending, we just go through the motions of each day. I go to class, go to work, do homework and repeat and doing it all while stressed. (us college students don’t have it thaatttt easy). Here are my 10 tips for de-stressing and limiting your stress to have a calm and peaceful mind!
1) Guided Meditation! Call me crazy but it works. It offers a nice and refreshing wave a peace, listing to calm ocean waves or the chirping of birds, with a soft voice giving you positive affirmations! Sometimes I listen in the morning before a hectic day or walking away from stress during the day. Listed below are some of my favorite guided meditations on youtube!

2) Looking your best – I got this one from a friend and it does help. Wake up a little earlier to do some extra makeup or put on the killer outfit! While your insides may be stressed, your outer appearance is calm. I find that when I look my best, I feel my best.
3) Working Out – This is something I just started but staying active not only has physical health benefits but mental benefits as well. The gym isn’t the only option! (coming from the girl that would rather sit in class then go to the gym). Try a yoga or kickboxing class. Hiking, bike riding or going outside for a walk in the park. It doesn’t have to be an intense workout at all! Bonus points if you grab a positive workout buddy and do it with a friend! These are all are great ways to stay level headed and give your mind some time to rest and think.
4) Have fun – So many times we get so wrapped up into work and school we forget to have fun. Plan small trips or things to do! It not only gives you activities to look forward to but time to laugh and enjoy life with the people you love. PS. I love Group On when trying to find things to do ! Especially on a college students budget.
5) Laugh ! This is so simple but so overlooked. Sometimes we can work ourselves into stress instead of laughing something that’s probably not that serious.I’m not talking about a little “ha-ha”, “heh-heh” or “tee-hee.” Let loose with a resounding belly laugh! It will reduce the levels of epinephrine, cortisol, and other stress hormones. Call the funniest person you know, watch a funny movie! ( for me I just have to scroll on twitter lol)
